Oleksiy Surovtsev, the ambassador of the Irpin Reconstraction Fund, showed how he saved animals in the Kherson region

Actor, animal rights activist and media ambassador of the Irpin Reconstraction Fund Oleksiy Surovtsev told and showed how he saved animals in the Kherson region. Together with the team, they visited the front-line village of Fedorivka. Surovtsev posted a poignant video on his Instagram page.

Oleksiy Surovtsev explained that there were enough volunteers and a queue of boats in Kherson. While the residents of Fedorivka also needed help.

“The residents of Fedorivka really needed our help, because everyone forgot that there are many flooded villages with the same people and animals. We brought almost 3 tons of humanitarian aid, which we collected thanks to you. It was difficult to find the animals, but we still managed to catch the frightened tails, left to their own devices, – said Surovtsev.

Oleksiy told who managed to save several dogs, cats, a hedgehog that was holding on to a fence in the water, as well as a couple of exhausted white nutria. The actor took to his shelter, which he opened after the beginning of the Russian invasion, seven cats in the most difficult condition. The rest were transferred to local shelters.

We will remind, during the hostilities in Irpin Oleksiy Surovtsev evacuated more than two hundred pets from the city. Sometimes he had to break down doors and walls to save abandoned cats, dogs, turtles, parrots, pigeons, chinchillas, guinea pigs, and hamsters. Among his wards was even an axolotl – a “water monster” that lives in an aquarium.

Irpin: prospects and plans for reconstruction in 2023

Last year in November I told how the first six months of the reconstruction of Irpin, which was destroyed by the Russian occupiers, lasted and how we, together with the city managements team, worked from assessing the situation during the firsts visits to the city after de-occupation to calculating the damages and making a reconstruction stragedy.

At that time, we identified five main areas of work, such as international negotiations, the formation of a package of presentation materials with visualization of the destruction and estimates of needs, the starting of the Irpin Reconstruction Fund, the work of the architectural and project direction of the Irpin Reconstruction Summit, and the involvement of real partners.

Today, when a year has passed since the deoccupation of Kyiv Region, I can confidently say that we have chosen the right way. Irpin is moving step by step towards recovery. By May 2023 the owners of 412 apartment buildings and 322 private houses in the Irpin community have been already provided by one or another assistance in reconstruction. In particular, it is replacement of windows, doors, roof repairs and provision of building materials.

Not everything happens as quickly as we would like. But we are following a clearly defined plan for global development of the city for the next 20-30 years, and powerful international partners help us.

The world famous American architectural company Gensler, which we began cooperation in November 2022 with, nowadays leads the team developing a master plan for the development of the Irpin community. In particular, Gensler specialists organized a large-scale survey of Irpin residents regarding their opinions of the city’s development. According to its results, Irpin residents consider the priority areas for the Irpin reconstruction to be a well-thought-out security system, economic viability and development of the medical area.

According this survey Gensler has already presented its understanding and vision of the Irpin development as a “garden city with a smart heart”. This plan envisages that the environment, economy and technology will be priorities for creating a city that has prospects for rapid recovery and economic growth.

A lot of work is underway to rebuild the destroyed infrastructure of Irpin right now in parallel with the development of a fundamental development strategy for many years. The reconstruction of three educational institutions in Irpin, such as Irpin Lyceum 3, the kindergarten “Radist” and the kindergarten “Vinochok” has begun this spring.

The reconstruction of Irpin Lyceum 3 is funded by UNICEF. 4.8 million euros have been allocated. The work is lasting very actively and all capital processes of reconstruction have almost been completed for a month.

The kindergarten “Radist” in Myra Street is being restored thanks to funding by the Lithuanian government. Funds for the repair and completion of the new building of the kindergarten “Vinochok”, located in Kyivska Street, were provided by the Portuguese twin city of Irpin, Cashcaish.

Reconstruction of the kindergarten “Radist” in Irpin

If someone thinks that we called UNICEF and said that we needed almost 5 million euros for the reconstruction of the lyceum and they gave us them the next day, you are very mistaken. There were lots of letters, meetings, negotiations, approvals and loads of days or even weeks of people’s hard work.

The situation is exactly the same with the involvement of benefactors and patrons to restore the housing of Irpin residents.

For example, in January this year, the reconstruction of four apartment buildings, such as condominiums “Mineral”, “Everest”, “Zatyshok” and “Aristocrat”, was completed. Their reconstruction became possible thanks to the cooperation of the Irpin Reconstruction Summit project and the Italian Terre des Hommes Italy Foundation. 450 families from these houses were able to return to their cozy apartments.

The restoration of Irpin continues every day

The International Organization for Migration (IOM Ukraine) accepted to finance the reconstruction of an apartment buildings at 12-14-16 Hostomelske Shose St., the ones that were the first in Irpin to suffer from an enemy air raid in March 2022. This organization will also help repair partially damaged block of flats at 160/2, 162 and 154-B Severynivska Street.

Seven apartment buildings in Irpin will be restored thanks to the initiative of the President of Ukraine on the UNITED24 platform. In particular, they are the block of flats in the residential complex “Irpinski Lypky” at 4, 11 Liniia St., the blocks of flats at 53 Kyiivska St., 104-a st. Mechnikova St., 106, Mechnikova S., 42, Davydchuka St., 3-B Myra St. and 14H Lysenka St.. In total, the reconstruction of these houses requires more than 285 million hryvnias. Thanks to the funds raised through the UNITED24 platform, 698 Irpin families will be able to get their own housing. And I sincerely thank all the benefactors who donate to UNITED24.

By the way, two tenders out of seven for reconstruction by UNITED24 have already been announced. So work will begin very soon.

Also, the Irpin city stadium “Champion” will be rebuilt thanks to the UNITED24 platform. Funds for its restoration were collected by the legend of Ukrainian football, project ambassador Andriy Shevchenko. The football clubs “Milan” and “Shakhtar” responded to the call of the footballer, which allocated 150,000 and 100,000 euros. 150,000 euros were raised at a charity evening in Milan, which was held under the patronage of Shevchenko. And 200,000 euros for the restoration of the “Champion” were provided by Parimatch Ukraine. Thus, the necessary 600,000 euros were collected. So, design estimates are already being developed at the expense of the city budget.

We also have strong support from the Dutch NGO Open Door Ukraine (ODU). It has already financed the restoration of damaged apartment buildings of the residential complex “Pushkin quarter” (62 L, Pushkinska St) and the residential complex “Novooskolskyi 2020” (2C, Novooskolska St). ODU will help with the repair of two damaged houses, the residential complex “Sparta” (22 Z, Kyivska St) and the residential complex “Zatyshnyi Dim” (4E, 10 Liniia St).

The other four apartment buildings in Irpin, two of them in the condominium “Zatyshnyi” and two ones in the condominium “RC “Novooskolskyi”, have been restored by the program “Restore the HOME” from the Energy Efficiency Fund, funded by the European Union. In total, 30 condominiums of Irpin have applied for participation in this program. And we sincerely hope that all of them will be restored thanks to EU funding.

Restored house by the program “Restore the HOME”

This year, a memorandum of partnership has been signed with the NGO “ELEOS-UKRAINE”. Within its framework in cooperation with IOCC (International Orthodox Christian Charities), ELEOS UKRAINE will help to make average repairs of hundreds of apartments and houses of the Irpin community that have suffered minor damage. There is an agreement with the organization ADRA Ukraine to provide residents of the Irpin community with certificates for the purchase of building materials.

Great work on obtaining and providing building materials for people is carried out by the Irpin Reconstruction Foundation. The Foundation is negotiating and attracting dozens of private companies that agree to provide building materials for the reconstuctiontion of social facilities in the city and private homes.

By the way, the issue of dismantling destroyed buildings occupies an extremely important place in the issue of rebuilding the city. UNDP, the Government of Japan and the Lithuanian Demolition Association are seriously assisting. After all, it is also quite a costly process. We are talking not only about the dismantling itself, but also about the proper ecological processing of construction waste and its further use in construction. A mobile platform for processing and sorting construction waste will appear in Irpin soon.

The dismantling of private houses in the area of Bahirova and Hostomelske Shose Streets is the most active nowadays. This neighborhood was perhaps the most affected during the hostilities. We are talking about more than 80 damaged and completely destroyed private buildings. About half of them cannot be restored.

Dismantling of multi-apartment buildings on the Severynivska St. in Irpin

We and the management team, together with the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, plan to rebuild this area according the comprehensive project. 60 million hryvnias have been allocated from the regional budget to do it. The biggest part of these funds will be used for designing. We will attract funds from benefactors and patrons for its reconstruction. A detailed visualization of this neighborhood is already being developed and active preparation for the development of the project is underway. The process of topography and collecting documents for each house is underway too.

We are also starting to design the reconstruction of the Central House of Culture and the Irpin Children’s and Youth Sports School. The design of the Center for Children’s Creativity, which will be built at 74th Striletskoii Dyvizii Street, and the exhibition center, which will appear at Slovianska Street, are underway.

There is a lot of work on the design of objects, which are created by architects and designers of the Irpin Reconsruction Summit. In particular, they are Freedom Square, modernization of the premises of the city museum and library, the house of culture in Romanivka and other projects.

We are also working on updating damaged heating, water supply and sewerage networks. The International Committee of the Red Cross helps us powerfully. The Irpin City Council also won a grant of EUR 7.7 million from the Nordic Environment Finance Corporation (NEFCO). These funds will be used for the reconstruction of urban networks.

140 million UAH from the regional budget will be used for the overhaul of the road on the Hostomelske Shose and the bridge. The project and expertise have already been made at the expense of the local budget.

Summing up, I want to say that nowadays a lot of people compare the pace and volume of restoration of Irpin with the restoration of other settlements in Kyiv region. But, they do it wrong. After all, the scale of the destruction of Irpin is not limited to one street. Imagine that the cost of new windows installed last year in mutilated apartment buildings and private buildings equals the price of renovating dozens of damaged streets.

There are hundreds of destroyed and damaged apartment buildings and thousands of private ones. Irpin is not compared of the scale of destruction with any city except Mariupol, Izium and those settlements that are now holding heroic defenses in the east of the country.

It is a great happiness that no other community in the Kyiv region suffered as much as Irpin region did. Irpin faced with a great grief. Irpin paid a high price but it did not allow the enemy to enter the capital, which actually preserved Ukrainian statehood. And it survived. And it will be rebuilt. Now we all just need to gain strength and patience and work every day to restore our city as our men from the TRO and the Armed Forces of Ukraine stood with incredible strength and patience against the enemy army in Irpin.

I sincerely thank everyone who understands it.

ITV is asking colleagues from abroad to help rebuild the house of the agency’s editor-in-chief.

The team of the ITV news agency is asking Ukrainian colleagues, as well as the world media, to help rebuild the house of editor-in-chief Liudmyla Lozova. Her house was completely destroyed during hostilities in the Kyiv region. For more than a year, the large Lozovy family has been homeless and scattered around the world.

Liudmyla Lozova is a media professional with over 30 years of experience. She comes from Kropyvnytskyi, but has been living with her family in Hostomel for more than 10 years, and works as the editor-in-chief of the ITV news agency in Irpin. To be more precise, she lived in Hostomel, in the village where Antonov Airport is located. It was there that on February 24, 2022, the first major battle of Ukrainian defenders and Russian occupiers took place in Kyiv region.

At the beginning of March 2022, the house of the Lozovy family was completely destroyed by enemy shells. Liudmyla lived there with her husband, her husband’s mother, son, daughter-in-law who has a disability, and two granddaughters. They miraculously managed to evacuate the day before and not fall into the occupation.

The family built the house on their own, according to their own project. They built it little by little for 10 years, decorated it themselves and arranged the territory. The area of the building is 230 square meters. m. The older generation lived on the first floor, and children and grandchildren lived on the second floor.

Today, the Lozovy family is forcibly separated by thousands of kilometers. The son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren dream of returning home from abroad, but they cannot, because there is nowhere to go. Liudmyla and her husband live in a tiny modular house, which is not suitable for living in winter. They do not have the funds to rebuild the destroyed house or purchase a new home.

Liudmila Lozova has been devoted to journalism for decades. She is a professional in her field, who has trained more than one generation of Ukrainian journalists and TV presenters. After the start of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, she united colleagues to fight on the information front. Lozova’s media team never stopped informing the residents of Priirpinnia about what was happening in their cities, towns and villages during the hostilities, almost 24 hours a day, informing them about possible evacuation routes and the possibility of receiving help.

The ITV team, led by Liudmyla Lozova, is actively working now, telling the whole world about the war crimes of the Russian aggressors, brutal murders of civilians, large-scale destruction of infrastructure and Ukraine’s need for the support of the international community.

Irpin was visited by the President of Guatemala, Alejandro Giammatea

“Everything we saw, all these impressions, we take with us. The whole world should know about what is happening in Ukraine. Russian aggression has no place either here or in any other part of the world,” President of Guatemala Alejandro Giammathei told journalists during his arrival in Irpin.

MMA world champion Yaroslav Amosov became the media ambassador of the Irpin Reconstruction Fund

Yaroslav Amosov, a resident of Irpin, the world MMA champion, became the media ambassador of the Irpin Reconstruction Fund. His aim is to attract funding for the reconstruction of the Irpin Children and Youth Sports School. This was Yaroslav Amosov’s  agreement with the Irpin City Mayor, a co-founder of the Irpin Reconstruction Fund Oleksandr Markushyn.

“I have good news. MMA world champion Yaroslav Amosov from Irpin will be the media ambassador of the Irpin Reconstruction Fund for the rebuilding of the Irpin Children and Youth Sports School. We agreed on this at today’s meeting. Yaroslav is a powerful fighter who never gives up. He courageously defended his native city from the invaders, and recently proved his professionalism and strength in a fight with the American Logan Storley,” Oleksandr Markushyn noted in his post.

“I am sure, with the support of Amosov, we will quickly rebuild our Youth Sports School and it will become one of the main centers of children’s sports in the Kyyv region. By the way, I’m initiating the awarding of the title of Honorary Citizen of Irpin to Yaroslav Amosov. I think you will support me in this”, – added the mayor of Irpin.

THE HERO CITY OF IRPIN THANKS THE WORLD LEADERS FOR THEIR SUPPORT OF UKRAINE

During 10 months of the war, about 100 world-famous people visited Irpin. For foreign guests, Irpin became a symbol of indomitability at the cost of destruction. The Ukrainian construction company “VIDVAZHNYKH” took the initiative and placed the  boards with the words of gratitude to the world leaders. Gratitude for the support of Ukraine and the Armed Forces of Ukraine – “THE WORLD OF BRAVE PEOPLE! #THANKSFORSUPPORT”, was acknowledged to the former Prime Minister and British politician Boris Johnson, the US President Joe Biden, the Polish President Andrzej Duda, the Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, the European Parliament President Roberta Metsola and the European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

Since the beginning of the military actions, the “VIDVAZHNYKH” COMPANY has joined to the defense of Irpin from the enemy, supporting the territorial defense fighters, and also helping to evacuate the civilians. Currently, the company is directing its efforts to help rebuilding the city by providing the necessary construction materials.

Previously, within the framework of the corporate social responsibility projects, “VIDVAZHNYKH” actively supported the development of cycling in Irpin, acting as the general sponsor of bicycle marathons and bicycle races “TransUkraine – bikepacking race 2021”, “Gravel Challenge”, “GRVL200 – Irpin 2021”, “Irpin Kids Bike” – 2021 With the support of the company, the all-Ukrainian children’s theatrical festivals were held in Irpin, the annual all-Ukrainian prize in the field of literature – the Irpin Literary Prize and the special prize “Art of the Brave” as a part of the all-Ukrainian artistic Plein air “Painted Irpin” were launched. Another direction of the charitable activity of the company was the arrangement of houses for the homeless animals on the streets of the city.

The “VIDVAZHNYKH” COMPANY is a group of construction companies that has united talented and organizationally strong people who are changing the world for better. The partners and co-founders of the company are Volodymyr Spivak and Volodymyr Karpluk. Since 2010, the “VIDVAZHNYKH” team has built 17 residential complexes, where more than 10,000 residents have already been living. The “VIDVAZHNYKH” group of companies created the following projects in the field of the real estate: residential complex “Novator”, “Warshavskyi Dvir”, “Rich Town Bucha”, “Bucha Kvartal”, “Central Bucha”, “Parkovy”, “Lisova Bucha”, “Poltavskyi”, “CENTRAL HOUSE”, etc. Only the last year, 9 months earlier, the “VIDVAZHNYKH” company leased the residential complex “CENTRAL HOUSE” and 11 months earlier, it handed over the keys to the investors of their own apartments of the residential complex “Novator Irpin”. This year, the company handed over the keys of the residential complex “Burgundia”, which is also located in Irpin.

Irpin Recovery Fund donated building materials to repair two more high-rise buildings

During the hostilities on the territory of Irpin, houses 104a and 106 of the residential complex “Green Life” on Mechnikova Street were severely damaged. The residents of the complex have already partially restored their homes by joint efforts. Now they need to insulate the houses. At this stage, they turned to the Irpin Recovery Fund for help and have already received the necessary materials from Saint-Gobain Construction Products Ukraine LLC.

Conservation of a part of the Central House of Culture has been completed in Irpin

Preserving the entrance part of the destroyed Central House of Culture for the winter was finished in Irpin. This information was reported by the head of the Department of Culture, Nationalities and Religions of Irpin City Council Yevhenia Antoniuk on her Facebook page.

“We have finished preserving the part of the Central House of Culture, which survived, although all of it was almost burned down during an unsuccessful attempt to establish the “Russian world” in March 2022,” she said.

According to her, “the conservation measures would not have been possible without the Irpin Restoration Fund, Volodymyr Karplyuk and Oleksandr Markushyn, the Irpin Housing and Communal Services Department and other city services.”

“I am grateful to everyone who does not stop for a minute in search of investments for the restoration of Irpin, ravaged by orcs. Every day and every hour, work continues to preserve or restore the infrastructure of the city, housing of our residents, educational, medical and cultural facilities. And maybe sometimes it seems to someone that it is not so, but believe me – the work and the search for funds and opportunities for their financing continue around the clock, and we will definitely rebuild everything even better,” added Yevheniia Antoniuk.

Tolokers and the Irpin Reconstruction Fund help the Shadurski family to repair temporary housing

An old amphora is the only thing that survived in this house on Severynivska Street in Irpin. Before the war, the Shadurski family lived here. Now there are only burnt walls.

Antonina Shadurska, a resident of Irpin: “It happened around March 17. It burned here for almost three days.”

The Shadurski evacuated from Irpin on March 5. They returned a month later. A terrible picture awaited them at home: a destroyed family nest, damaged cars and a summer house in the yard. Everything was black. And only colorful tulips were poking from under the rubble. The woman says that it was a sign for her and her husband that they cannot give up. And they started looking for help from volunteers.

Antonina Shadurska: “Thank you very much – I want to say to the volunteers of Dobrobat, who gave us hope that we will be able to restore our housing, our house, our summer kitchen.”

After the volunteers cleared the area of debris, the family decided to rebuild the summer house. This is how it looked back in April. And now it is like that.

Currently, the interior works are underway. Volunteers are leveling and plastering the walls. The materials for the works were provided by the Irpin Reconstruction Fund. Deputy from the district Antonina Dovhanych joined the organization of the works.

Antonina Dovhanych, deputy of the Irpin City Council: “It is very difficult to be a deputy in such a difficult time of war. It is very difficult to restore Irpin when there is no light, it is also very difficult to restore it when there are no materials and there are no such wonderful boys and girls who agree to help us. Therefore, my appeal to the people who help us: thank you very much! Those who are willing – join us! This is the Irpin Reconstruction Fund. We really work.”

With the support of the Irpin Reconstruction Fund, Tolokers are repairing the third object in the city. And in general, for the fifth month, young girls and boys don’t get tired of spending their weekends on free help for the affected families, because they believe that this is their front.

Oksana, volunteer: “We will help as much as our people and our country need it. It inspires us; we never get tired of it. This is our front, we feel that this is our task, and we have to do it.”

Antonina Shadurska: “We hope that with their help we will finish our construction as soon as possible, restore temporary housing and start rebuilding our house. With the help of good people, bright hopes.”
