To accelerate the process of reconstruction of the city, the Irpin Recovery Fund was created

During the fighting in Irpin, 70% of urban buildings were damaged – from residential buildings to schools, kindergartens and other infrastructure. As of today, only 5% of them were managed to restore. How much will they have to rebuild to the first frost?

It is one of the most destroyed areas of Irpin. Here out of 10 residential buildings, only to three people partially returned. Whether they will be able to overwinter here is the most worrying question.

“Even the windows are not changed yet. The only thing that has been possible to do is to restore electricity. We are very much in need of gas restoration, because heating and hot water depend on gas. We have a leaky roof, we temporarily repaired it by our own forces and funds, but the last rain showed that it is unreliable,” – Irpin resident Maria says.

She says that the state application was filed in “Diya” in May. The commission evaluated the loss, but the matter is not going. The same situation is in neighboring houses.

“I went to the city council, there I left the application and in “Diya” in April. Well, you see how. I have already brought people from “windows-doors” organizatio , they said it costs 115 thousand, where can I take it? 115 thousand,” Nadiya laments.

But there are also local ones who have managed to start repairing their home. Only at their own expense – OSBB evaluated the losses and people worked together to raise money.

“More than 500 thousand have spent, so the case is, someone gives 100, someone does not give, who has funds, who do not have, you know,” Vyacheslav explains.

In order to speed up the process of reconstruction of the city, they created the Irpin Recovery Fund – a public organization, which was founded by the current chairman Oleksandr Marcushуn, former head of city Volodymyr Karpliuk and People’s Deputy Sergey Taruta. The Ukrainian stars who help raise money will complement the team. In particular, Valery Kharchyshyn and Oleksandr Ponomarev joined the Fund. The co -founders say they count on international partners.

“Within the framework of the international trips we worked, the indicative sum we have already engaged is about one million euros,”- said Volodymyr Karpliuk, Mayor of Irpіn 2014-2015.

According to the Rebuild UA project, which estimates the destruction of cities by the Russians, at least $ 922 million is required to restore Irpin. The mayor noted that it would take about two years to fully rebuild all buildings. Therefore, by December 1, they hope to restore at least 15% of the destroyed infrastructure.

“Today, those who have nowhere to live, we are opening up modular towns, we are implementing with the second sanatorium, which will be able to accommodate about 500 people,” – the current mayor Oleksandr Markushyn notes.

If you want to help residents, you can go to the site of organization and donate money in the section “Help”.
