Before war

Irpin specialized secondary school of I-III degrees of art profile №1 named after A.S. Makarenko is the oldest educational institution in the community. The history of the school dates back to about 1905. Before the war, 1065 students studied here, and 65 teachers worked there. In 2003, the school was reorganized into a specialized secondary school of I-III degrees of artistic profile. Currently, it is the only institution in Kyiv region where subjects of the aesthetic industry are taught at the profile level. In 2021, a new building for 900 students was opened. The classrooms are equipped with modern multimedia teaching aids, a resource center for children with special educational needs has been created, a sports, gymnasium and assembly hall, a spacious dining room have been equipped. There is a media library for participants of the educational process. There are 2 sports grounds on the territory: tennis and multifunctional with artificial turf.

After the invasion

As a result of Russia’s armed aggression and active hostilities in the city in March 2022, almost 50% of the building was damaged. Damaged: facade, walls, roof, windows, entrance and interior doors, gym, assembly hall, sports ground, treadmills, electrical networks, video surveillance system
